Senior / Staff / Principal Engineer

$130-200k + options. Chicago-based, in office 5 days a week. Sit between principal and product engineer. Ship features end to end across mobile, web, and backend. Independent. Systems-minded.

You’ll:

• Ship full-stack features (Kotlin/JVM backend, React Native mobile, React web)
• Build and integrate agent systems (Bedrock, LLM tooling, RAG, evals)
• Heavy AI tooling user (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent)
• Own DevOps and infra where needed (AWS, CI/CD, observability)
• Make product decisions in PRs when scope is ambiguous
• Work async, ship daily, raise bugs as you find them

You are:

• 4-12 years engineering experience
• Strong in at least one JVM language (Kotlin a plus) and TypeScript/React
• Comfortable in production AWS environments
• High agency, low ego, ships under ambiguity
• Curious about consumer social, agent systems, AI-native product

Our code style:

• Functional, immutable, Result-typed error handling
• Thin pages, UI-safe DTOs, small focused services
• Spec harness TDD, eval-driven for AI work
• PR-a-day cadence, review-friendly diffs
• Skill files as living documentation, AI agents as part of the harness

Stack: Kotlin/JVM, React Native, React, Postgres, AWS Bedrock, Stream, Claude.

Bonus: Agent orchestration experience, Stripe, mobile release management, design sense.
